  • F.A.Q: General faq on Italy

    Some information on Italian customs.

    3. What about Italian holidays? - Top

Every village celebrates their Saint's day; there will probably be a festa, a celebration with fireworks, music and open air market.

Many businesses close for part or the whole month of August as most Italians take their holidays then.

Ferragosto, August 15, is one of the most important public holidays and many towns hold parties, fireworksdisplays, etc. to celebrate. "Chiuso per ferie" means "closed for the holidays." On their annual vacations people tend to go the seaside or the mountains. - Updated: February 23, 2001
